The on going performance project “Delay no more“ proposes an alternative of how the west perceives East Asian women by looking into categorisation, othering, and in-betweeness that occurs in the process of immigration. We want to establish our own sense of belonging that doesn’t attribute to specific cultures through imagining an Utopia in space. We work on “anti-cuteness” which practices a new way of being that resists stereotypes, infantilisation, Orientalism and fetishism.
How do we relate in between each other, coming together in the midst of displacement? Can you imagine a world where you don’t have to belong to? How does the physical body carry traces of cultural expectation, and how can those traces be made visible or disrupted?

To what extent do we identify with the stereotypes?

In this project we will also be working on collectivity and community building. How to create a community that isn’t tied to a culture or a nationality, but builds through shared desire for resistance?
